Gessobord

A self-taught, representational artist from the rural southern town of Greensboro, Alabama, Timothy Joe, creates art based on southern rural culture, family, and heritage themes.

Maryland-based Gessobord artist Eric Robinson specializes in oil and pen to create various visual narratives. Eric’s use of rich earth tones and bold brushwork is met with complementary soothing backgrounds that allow his subjects’ personalities to radiate through and be the focal point of each piece.

Ampersand Artist Ambassador Scott Gellatly is a landscape painter at heart, but his work has become more abstracted, with greater emphasis on pure color and gestural mark-making to evoke nature. As a plein air painter, Scott uses Ampersand Gessobord, Aquabord, and Pastelbord for his work.

When Ampersand launched our largest surfaces ever, we wanted to collaborate with artists whose experience is primarily creating on a big scale. This led to our collaboration with aerosol artist Taylor Reinhold.

Her work evokes a feeling of peace. With an impressionistic style and an illustrative base, the textural imagery in Jane Hunt’s sweeping landscapes skillfully merge a sense of immense wonderment with a tranquil feeling of warm familiarity. Her work is calming and ethereal, conjuring emotions of a familiar, yet undefined, location.

This painting was inspired by a woman that was watching a procession in a small piazza in Italy. I am usually inspired by a particular subject, light quality, shadow pattern, or overall mood based on a life experience. When not able to work from life, I try to work from a combination of quick sketches, color studies, and photographs.
