How to make wood sign décor
Make your own festive wood signs with Ampersand panels, stencils, and some everyday art supplies. Ampersand Birch Wood Panels are an excellent choice for a craft project like this and they are sold in multi-packs so you can make signs for yourself and some for gifts!
This tutorial offers a fun, easy, and inexpensive way to create your own holiday décor. For this project, we used a 12x12 Ampersand Birch Wood Panel, a 12x12 7/8" Thin Style Maple Ampersand Floaterframe, and some holiday stencils. There is a lot of creative freedom in this project, so feel free to explore different panel sizes, stencils, and colors that speak to you.

Materials:
- Ampersand Birch Wood Panel
- Ampersand Floaterframe
- Acrylic matte or gloss medium or Mod Podge®
- Stencils
- Acrylic paint
- Small paint brush
- Foam brushes
- Tape
- Optional: Wood stain
Step 1: With a foam brush, paint or stain the Birch Wood Panel with the background color of your choice. Allow to dry.

Step 2: Place the stencil down and tape it into place so it does not move.
Step 3: With the Mod Podge or acrylic medium, coat over the stencil openings with a light coat. This will seal the stencil and prevent the paint from bleeding under the stencil. Allow to dry. NOTE: If you skip this step, your paint is likely to bleed under the stencil.

Step 4: Using the acrylic paints and a small foam brush, paint over the layer of Mod Podge and stencil and fill in where you want each color. Allow to dry for a few minutes. You may want to apply multiple coats of paint, especially on a dark background like this one.

Step 5: Once dry, remove the tape and the stencil. If you need to fill in any details, use the small paintbrush. Allow to completely dry.

Step 6: Frame and display in an Ampersand Floaterframe.
